This model is a welcomed reissue from the recently revived JoHan Models LLC. This isn't the company's legendary full-detail Turbine Car kit, but a disassembled version of the vintage promo model.

Don't let the model's age and simplicity put you off; despite its low parts count (20), the distinctive body is nicely molded in white plastic and loaded with detail. The vinyl roof has a realistic texture, and the trim and emblems are sharp, especially helpful when it's time to apply Bare-Metal Foil. The clear window insert is thinly molded and remarkably clear, the chrome details are cleanly plated, and two translucent-red taillights are included.

I eyeballed a mixture of paints to arrive at "Turbine Bronze" and applied the color with an airbrush. Two Phillips screws hold the model together; the interior parts trap between the body and the simplified one-piece chassis/floorpan.

A nicely printed decal sheet includes silver "Turbine" scripts, license plates, tire whitewalls, and markings to depict the white car that appeard in the 1964 B movie The Lively Set.

I had a great time building this kit. It's at the shallow end of the complexity scale, but it builds into a great-looking model - a nice alternative if you'd like to add the unusual Turbine Car to your collection.
