Budweiser 2003 Monte Carlo
Revell-Monogram No. 85-2193
Model Type: Injection-molded plastic kit
Molded Colors: White, clear
MSRP: $16.05
Pros: Driver's seat, body, decals
Cons: Wheels/tires, ride height
The latest addition to Revell-Monogram's long line of NASCAR kits is well done. The parts count is moderate, and the building process is not overwhelming in any way. The instructions are presented in a simplified manner to aid proper construction, including a full sheet for proper decal placement.

The 17-piece engine is typical of the engines in previous R-M NASCAR releases. The one-piece exhaust headers are the only disappointment; they're molded with open backsides that need to be filled with putty.

The best part in the kit is the two-piece driver's seat that represents the modern seat used by most race teams today. A driver figure is also included.

The chassis assembly has been updated from previous kits; the one- or two-piece suspensions are gone, and separate parts are now included, along with improved springs.

The tire-and-wheel combination is a disappointment; they don't fit well or look good after assembly. I replaced the kit parts with some from an older R-M NASCAR kit.

The body is well-done - crisp, clean, accurate - and the glass is one piece, with the molding prepainted black inspection stickers and track-bar adjuster locators. The decals are wonderful.

This was a fun kit to build, and it didn't take much time to complete. I recommend it to anyone.
