Moto GP racing is the pinnacle of motorsport on two wheels. If you make it to the top, you are the best of the best.

For the past several years, the best has been Italian Valentino Rossi. Before he switched to Yamaha in 2004, Rossi spent many years dominating on a Honda. Italeri has recently issued this kit of Rossi's 2003 Valencia Grand Prix mount, complete with the special graphics from that event.

Because this kit is 1/9 scale, most of the parts are big, which makes detailing and assembling easier than usual.

The parts are molded well in black, silver, bright yellow, and clear. Also included is a tree of satin-plated parts, plus a bag of screws and springs. The detail molded into the parts is good, but some careful painting will bring it to life.

The real star of the kit is the decals. Printed by Cartograf, they are very colorful, accurate, and relatively easy to apply. I did need setting solution in some areas to get them to snuggle down.

The whole kit impressed me with its ease of assembly. The only real problem was that some of the pins to attach the brake lines to were too large for the tubing provided. I spent about 30 hours on this build - time well worth it.
