This 2004 Corvette kit is a companion to the Hot Wheels Camaro SnapTite that our son Bill and I reviewed in the April 2008 issue. That kit had its problems with parts fit, so I was interested to see if Bill found this kit easier to build.

I'm pleased to report that he had a much easier time of assembly with this model, although the idea that a kit with 35+ parts and stickers can be assembled in less than 20 minutes, as the box-art claims, is pretty much impossible.

From the start, it was evident that the parts fit was much better in this kit; the seat backs stayed in place, the glass fit well, and the interior pieces locked together as they should. "Boy, this is a lot better than last time," remarked Bill.

We did find flash on a few parts, which could throw off a first-time modeler, but it was easily removed with a sharp hobby-knife blade. Any excess material can hinder assembly of a snap kit, so getting the flash removed was important.

The only real problem came near the end, and it was significant: the front screws are too long, which left ugly marks where they nearly came through the hood.

Aside from that, assembly went well in about an hour, and it was a good, fun project.
