The USA-1 2010 Camaro SS/RS coupe is a simple kit that I think is great for the beginner, or the perfect kit to try to get kids involved in model building. It’s a curbside kit, with few parts.

Upon opening the box you will find instruction sheets in several languages, with the rest of the parts and trees individually packaged in plastic bags.

The body is well proportioned, with little flash or mold lines to worry about. There were pretty noticeable indentations on the trunk, but it was nothing that a little Bondo and primer and some sanding couldn’t fix.

The front and rear fascia, as well as the rocker panels, are separate and installed at the end after the interior and chassis are mated to the body. I suggest dry-fitting all these parts to make sure that they fit properly; it will ease the process at the end.

Even though it’s a curbside, the hood is a separate piece.

The glass is bagged separately and looks great. I was not too crazy about the pins molded on the front and rear glass; they will be noticeable when the glass is placed on the body.

I decided to smoke the windows on my build. This will not only hide the pins on the glass, it will also create a nice contrast against the light color of the body. Make sure to also dry-fit these before adding any paint to the body. I had to widen the holes a bit to get the glass to sit correctly inside the frame.

The interior is simple and consists of 13 parts. It was a little strange to see that the seats were molded in rubber. These are bagged together with the tires, so make sure to check on this item first. I went a little crazy looking for these on the sprues!

Decals include the emblems for the interior and exterior as well as the gauges, license plates, and of course, the beautiful wraparound graphics of the American flag and eagle.

I found that the decals were kind of on the dull side, and even though they don’t look bad when you have them in place, I decided to shoot clear on the body after placing them. This truly complements the paintwork and makes the model look cool. Make sure to have the hood in place on the body when placing the decals; it will make it easier to align everything.

The chassis is simple, and only consists of 11 parts. The front and rear suspension is molded in, as well as the engine and transmission detail. The only separate parts are the mufflers/pipes, transmission, and exhaust pipe support.

Metal axles are used to hold the wheels in place. The wheels look good, and the chrome is crisp. The tires do not have any markings on their sides.

Mating of the chassis to the body is an easy step, being that the rocker panels are placed at the end of this phase. The front and rear fascia go together easily; these parts have pins that attach to the front and rear parts of the chassis, making the installation a little sturdier. I decided to widen the holes that hold the front and rear fascia together for easier alignment.

I thought that several parts were designed to actually work more as a snap kit; this made for an easier build than the average and more-detailed kit.

I enjoyed this build very much, even though I thought it was a little too simple for my taste. But I was also surprised to see how well it turned out. I thought the stance was a little too high, but it’s an easy fix if one had to work around that.
