Chopping and sectioning

RELATED TOPICS: SECTIONED | CHOPPED
Tip: While trying to cut the roof off a scale diecast kit, I discovered an easy way to do a uniform chop or section job.

My motor tool came with its standard abrasive cutting discs, which are approximately 1mm thick, and have a tendency to shatter because they are so thin. I stacked several together for added strength, then realized that five discs measured approximately three inches in 1/24 scale. It was the easiest three-inch chop job I've ever done!

The cut was uniform all the way around, and required almost no filler.

This should work for sectioning as well. Adding discs will create a wider cut that will stay uniform. You may have to modify this technique for wedge cuts, but it would still simplify the process.
