Painting molded-in gas tanks
Q: An area that I always have trouble with is the molded-in gas tanks on a car's chassis plate. I wish the manufacturers would provide a separate fuel tank that could be painted, detailed, and just glued in place. When they mold the gas tank in the chassis, the tolerances in frame are so close it makes it tough to paint the tank and get a clean paint-separation line. Trying to mask the tank, especially with deep crevices, tends to be tough to do as well. What's the best approach to painting a tank like this?
