Does Evercoat come in smaller sizes than a two-pound can?

RELATED TOPICS: PUTTY
Q: My favorite type of body putty is Evercoat two-part polyester putty, but the smallest size it comes in is a two-pound can. I find that it’s more putty than I need and it costs more than I’d really like to pay. Does Evercoat come in smaller sizes?

Ken: We’re with you, Roger: Evercoat is our favorite, too. However, like you, we find that the “small size” can is usually too much for us to use before it separates, and ultimately hardens in the can. We’ve even had some for so long that the little tube of hardener has crystallized.

To our knowledge, Evercoat doesn’t come in a smaller size, but you’re in luck: Bondo offers a small tube of two-part polyester glazing putty that comes with a tube of hardener. It works just like Evercoat, but has the advantage of a smaller size and convenient tube.

Drying time is pretty quick, too, so you’ll be able to sand in just about the same amount of time as with Evercoat.

Remember: Before you squeeze out the desired amount of putty, “knead” the tube to mix the contents. That goes for the hardener, too.

Good luck, Roger. Now your next custom can be a true Bondo Bucket!
