How to make velocity stacks

Q: I have always liked the Gasser era, but I have a hard time finding velocity stacks to put on my drag cars. How can I find them, or is there any way I can make them?

Ken: Several kits contain a few different lengths of velocity stacks, Danny, but you know how we are: we’d rather make our own!

In this case, aluminum tubing from the local hobby shop can be easily transformed into the stacks you need.

Decide on a suitable diameter tubing, then flare it by twirling a #11 blade in one end. If this doesn’t produce the desired flare, push the end of the tube onto a center punch, which will flare the thinned aluminum even more.

When you’ve got the right flare, cut the tubing to the desired length.

Do this seven more times, and you’ve got yourself a shiny set of velocity stacks for your Gasser.
