Tip of the Month: Parts-drying rack

how-to-make-a-parts-drying-rack
Our T.O.M. this issue comes from resourceful modeler Frank Ianucilli of Longmont, Colorado.

Frank’s homebuilt parts-drying rack is a model in itself, and proves that a little thought and effort can create a handy tool that will never outlive its usefulness.

The rack consists of binder clips screwed to the edge of a 2x4 board, with holes drilled down the middle to hold cooking skewers, to which parts to be painted are attached.

His version uses 36 clips – more than enough “drying stations” to hold whatever he’s needed to paint – with legs to stabilize and add weight to the rack.

Frank sent us a photo of his drying rack, which is beautifully stained and finished. We here at the workshop love that kind of attention to detail!

Thanks for sharing a great tip with us, Frank.
