Keeping track of computer wires

Tip: This is about as un-model-related as you can get, but I thought it might help some of your readers:

The wiring under my computer desk looks like a bowl of spaghetti, so to keep track of what each wire is, I clip each wire with one of those little flat plastic tabs used to seal bags of hot dog rolls, loaves of bread, etc. I label each tab with a marker, so I know exactly which wire goes to what device.

You have no idea how much time this has saved when a problem occurs!

Thanks for a great magazine.

Ken:
You’re right, Kevin. This is so un-model-related I was about to hit the Delete key – until I realized that this is, in fact, a potential modeling timesaver.

Most modelers are tied to computers in a big way, and use them to connect with other modelers, enter modeling chat rooms and message boards, research a current project, or just look up cars in general.

So if a computer problem threatens to sabotage modeling time, a tip that could allow us to quickly trace a problem (finding which wire leads where) and thus give us more modeling time, is model-related. Thanks for the helpful tip!
